Professional Background & Personal Information


Alejandro Matuk was born in 1952. He attended California State University, Fullerton, graduating with honors in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Mr. Matuk earned his Juris Doctorate at the University of Michigan in 1977.

Mr. Matuk is the principal of the Law Offices of Alejandro Matuk and a principal of Strazzeri Mancini LLP.

He started his professional career in the San Diego City Attorney’s Office. Mr. Matuk was a Senior Deputy City Attorney for the City of San Diego in the City Attorney’s Civil Litigation for eight years. Mr. Matuk was the principal attorney in numerous cases involving property, zoning, government contracts, land use, personal injury and various governmental matters. Mr. Matuk also served as Special Deputy Counsel for the Redevelopment Agency of the City of San Diego, negotiating and litigating eminent domain cases for the Agency.

Mr. Matuk has tried over 100 bench trials and over 50 jury trials, both criminal and civil. With respect to his civil experience, Mr. Matuk has tried major jury trials in both state and federal courts, where the potential liability or recovery to his private clients, the City of San Diego, and other public entities exceeded $100,000,000. These civil jury trials have ranged in duration from six trial days to four weeks and involved various types of lawsuits, including partnership dissolution, federal civil rights, contracts, products liability, disputes involving real property, land subsidence, eminent domain and inverse condemnation trials, lender liability, and various banking-related litigation matters. Mr. Matuk has handled approximately 100 administrative hearings and approximately 120 arbitrations.

In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Matuk has been the responsible attorney in numerous writs and appellate matters. He has personally prepared and argued numerous cases before the Fourth District Court of Appeals, the Ninth Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court and has argued two published cases before the California Supreme Court.

After leaving the City, he entered private practice and developed a strong business law specialty using his litigation experience to help guide his clients.


Alejandro has lectured on business and estate planning, trial tactics, and litigation, and has been an instructor for the San Diego Inns of Court Program and as a Southern California Institute Fellow. He is a member of the State Bar of California, the San Diego County Bar Association, the La Raza Lawyers Association of San Diego, the San Diego Business Trial Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association. Mr. Matuk is a member of Wealth Counsel.
